Hull Haven't Given Up On Campbell

Campbell, a highly promising England under-21 international striker, rose to prominence last term during his loan spell at Hull City, scoring 15 goals and starring in the Championship play-off final to help the Tigers win promotion to the Premier League.

It is no wonder then that the Tigers boss has made it a top priority to retain the 20-year-old’s services, though their only realistic hope would be another loan as the youngster is considered the pick of a crop of young players that Sir Alex has described as among the best he's ever had.

"I spoke at length with Sir Alex Ferguson at the end of the season, having kept him up to speed with the progress Fraizer Campbell had made all season," Brown said to Sky Sports News.

"He was adamant that all his players would come back for pre-season training.

"When they come back from South Africa there is an opportunity to talk again.

"I fully trust Sir Alex's word on that and when they come back from South Africa I will be putting a call in. There is always a possibility."

Brown will take heart by recent comments made by the United boss, concerning the likes of Campbell, Jonny Evans, Lee Martin, Danny Simpson, Chris Eagles, Darron Gibson, Sam Hewson, Danny Welbeck and Ben Amos.

"They're all really good players," he said. "They've got good potential and some of them will go on loan, some have come back from their loan periods and will now have to push on and show that improvement that's going to get them into the first team squad."
