Villa Happy, But Finances May Yet Decide

The stark reality of the financial situation at Mestalla has meant that none of the club's stars have been able to relax this summer and know that they will definitely be staying.

A meeting this week saw Villa's agent, José Luis Tamargo, accept that a pay rise of €500,000-per-year, from €3m to €3.5m, was enough to persuade the player not to look elsewhere.

Negotiations are set to continue amid reports that a mega offer from Tottenham Hotspur could be received and both parties want to know what theother would do in such an event.

David Silva could yet be the player to leave los che with Barcelona rumoured to have been encouraged to make an offer, while Joaquñin is also said to be being offered to other clubs.

Valencia know that there would be uproar if they allowed any of their stars to leave on the cheap, but with debts mounting the new administration have to raise funds to start the season.

While Joaquín can no longer command the incredible price tags that Chelsea were once willing to pay, Silva could be prsied away for €25m while Villa is said to worth around €40m in Valencia's eyes.
